For a long time I wanted to boycott Evolution to be honest with you. I grew up watching the original television series, and to me Evolution (at the time) was a huge let down because everyone (almost) was in high school. I viewed this as stupid back then, and I became discontent with the characterization of some of the people. Then again this was before I became more aware of a lot of characters. Well flash forward to now and I went to give it a second try. This time around I am less likely to write it off as horrible. I went through the first and second season in about a month, in between work, and found myself actually happy with the turn out.

First of all I do like the animation, and that was something I did not give credit to when it first came out. Also the characters do seem slightly more fleshed out in this spin-off. As spin-offs go sometimes they fall short with characters, and in Evolution most of the cast was well defined. I also was able to say I liked the Brotherhood a lot this time around. Especially Avalanche aka Lance Alvers. He is a pretty cool guy and his powers are cool. I really got into the love thing he had going on for Kitty. The boy does not give up! Pietro and Toad are also my next favorites out of the cast.

The X-Men themselves were also cool too, and I actually liked Cyclops this time around AND Jean. That never happens with me. Nightcrawler was a cutie I will say that for all his blue glory. Many complain about Rogue but, once I figured this was a High School setting, and people dress weird most of the time you know? The only character I really was not happy with was Gambit. I mean ..he was OKAY but he wasn't the best. Another person who was slightly screwed up was Scarlet Witch. They should have kept the longish hair, and given her an outfit CLOSE to her comic one. Oh well. I will say I was giggly at Toad trying to win her over, haha.

Well..I give Evolution a 8/10. Some points fell short but for an AU spin-off ...I was impressed with the creativity of tossing them in a setting we can all relate to.
